Meta is finally looking away from their world of metaverse after they saw a pushback from the users. Over the years, Meta's interest in the metaverse has caused them to lose billions of dollars. Mark Zuckerberg was so concentrated on building the Meta VR headset that he overlooked the losses. However, it seems he is finally seeing the effects of his expedition in the metaverse world after sales of the Meta VR headset dropped massively. Apart from being extremely pricey, those who have used the headset have complained of several issues which Meta has failed to rectify.

Females who have used their Headsets have complained that they felt dizzy and nauseous while using the headset. Since most of the components needed to set up a VR communication are overpriced, there is not enough infrastructure for such communication. The world is moving away from the era of VR headsets, and can Meta keep up?

Can Meta Keep Up?

According to a new study, those currently having an edge in the metaverse industry are the telecommunications, games, and sports firms. On Twitter, NFTgators said, "Sectors like telecoms (20%) and sports and gaming (19%) are well ahead of others in Metaverse adoption, but in two years, manufacturing will rise to 38%, likely due to the ability to combine the Metaverse with digital twins and IoT technologies."

It is obvious that Meta-Facebook has to move from its traditional VR headsets to other forms of communication on the metaverse. The Meta’s version of a corporate workspace, named Horizon Worlds Workrooms, has been rejected by many organizations. Setting up the workspace can make an organization break the bank. Also, it is very cumbersome and can hinder productivity within the workspace. Since the products made by Meta are cumbersome, users prefer to use already-made platforms such as Roblox and Decentraland. They are ready to use and don't cost much for the average user to set it up.

What is Meta Doing?

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg realizes they are losing the market as the day passes. So he is making frantic efforts to ensure they retain whatever is left of their market share. The primary target audience that Meta is focusing on is teenage users, the company confirmed. However, two Democrat senators stopped Meta's plan to create a metaverse app for teens.

They sent a letter to Mark Zuckerberg, warning him of the dangers of releasing them all against their warnings. "In light of your company’s record of failure to protect children and teens and a growing body of evidence pointing to threats to young users in the metaverse, we urge you to halt this plan immediately," the letter from Sens. Ed Markey (D., Mass.) and Richard Blumenthal (D., Conn.) read.

But currently, Meta is considering a partnership with another firm affiliated with metaverse called Tencent. Meta plans to make this partnership a reality so they can move forward with their objectives for the metaverse.

While discussing Meta workspace products, an expert said that employees are not ready for a virtual workspace transition. According to tech research firm CEO John Egan, "I’m yet to see any signals that there’s a willingness to engage with this."
