OpenAI has announced the launch of the official version of its AI-powered chatbot ChatGPT on Apple’s App Store. The ChatGPT app launch came weeks after Google presented its own AI technology named Bard. In their blog, OpenAI announced, saying the iOS launch will help ChatGPT users to use the AI solution on the go. ChatGPT on iPhone means users don't have to open Bing or their browsers before using the technology.

They can easily download the app from the App Store and use it directly from their home screen. This is a welcomed development from OpenAI, as the company claimed users have been pushing them to create an app for their groundbreaking technology.

OpenAI announced on May 18th, saying, "Since the release of ChatGPT, we've heard from users that they love using ChatGPT on the go. Today, we’re launching the ChatGPT app for iOS.

The ChatGPT app is free to use and syncs your history across devices. It also integrates Whisper, our open-source speech-recognition system, enabling voice input. ChatGPT Plus subscribers get exclusive access to GPT-4’s capabilities, early access to features, and faster response times, all on iOS."

What Users Stand to Get From ChatGPT on iPhone

According to ChatGPT, their app on smartphones will bring more features to the technology. First, it will make it much easier for their users to get precise answers without going through a browser or search engines. ChatGPT also promises professional input, as they would help "Boost productivity with idea feedback, note summarization, and technical topic assistance." OpenAI also claims that ChatGPT on iPhone will help create more learning opportunities for their users by allowing them "Explore new languages, modern history, and more at your own pace."

ChatGPT says they would first start the rollout of their app for users in the United States. Once they get started in the US, other countries in their list will also get subsequent releases of their app on the App Store. "We're starting our rollout in the US and will expand to additional countries in the coming weeks. We’re eager to see how you use the app. As we gather user feedback, we’re committed to continuous feature and safety improvements for ChatGPT.

With the ChatGPT app for iOS, we’re taking another step towards our mission by transforming state-of-the-art research into useful tools that empower people while continuously making them more accessible," OpenAI said in their announcement.

Android to Get their Own ChatGPT App Soon

OpenAI also hinted that Android smartphones would soon be getting the ChatGPT app soon. At the end of their announcement, the company said," P.S. Android users, you're next! ChatGPT will be coming to your devices soon."

Despite now being on Android, ChatGPT has seen many duplicates posing as the original app on Google Play. Even before it was launched on iOS, many apps on the App Store claimed to be ChatGPT. The major problem here was that these apps charged way too much compared to the subscription fees approved by ChatGPT. Nevertheless, those already subscribed to ChatGPT services before the app launch will still get acres to the benefits they enjoyed, pending when their subscription ends.
