Nonfungible tokens generated one of the most social media hype and trends in 2021, although it is not much discussed as 2022 ends. But before the hype about NFTS died down, so many people talked about blockchain innovation and how it was going to be one of the biggest technologies to ever come out of the blockchain.

During this hype period, many people minted and sold different kinds of NFTs for prices that weren't rational to the average human being. While those within the crypto industry considered the NFT technology the way forward for creatives, many people considered some of the NFTs' crypto prices ridiculous. Imagine buying some jpeg for millions of dollars; it was simply madness during the peak of its trend on social media.

While some of these NFTs helped some creatives, most were simply weird kinds of art that the crypto community overrated. This article will find some of the most repulsive NFTs that surprisingly sold for millions of dollars.

1. Jack Dorsey First Tweet

The former CEO of Twitter, Jack Dorsey, was also involved in the NFT rage and even sold his first tweet on the social media platform. Before Twitter became so popular, the first tweet had come from the platform's co-founder, and it read, "just setting up my twttr."

Jack Dorsey had recreated the tweet into an NFT format, and it received several bids, up to $2.5 million. The former Twitter CEO later sold the NFT for about $2.9 million, $2.9 million for nothing other than a 5-letter word of a tweet. The Jack Dorsey NFT tweet is one of the most expensive ever sold. The NFT craze was something else, as those who had the money wanted to join the trend and ended up spending huge sums.

2. WWW Source Code Acquisition

The WWW Source Code NFT is one of the weirdest NFTs sold for a huge amount of money. The world wide web is an invention belonging to Sir Tim Berners-Lee, who decided to sell it as an NFT. Who knows, the amount he sold the NFT might even be larger than what he earned from his invention.

With a starting bid of $1,000, the WWW Source Code NFT eventually sold for a whopping $5.4 million. Although the buyer of this NFT is unknown, that is quite a huge amount of money to pay for.

3. A Sleepy Trump

An NFT of a sleepy Donald Trump was made, and it was an image of the former president of America, Donald Trump, with a lot of graffiti written all over his body. The name of the NFT was the Crossroads, which sold for an unbelievable $6.6 million.

The image represented the period when Donald Trump lost the presidential race to Joe Biden, which led to many controversial moves by the former president. Despite the controversy surrounding the NFT, it sold for a huge sum. It makes the list of one of the most expensive nfts ever sold since the creation of the technology.

4. Selfie Pictures

Imagine making millions of dollars from nothing other than the selfies you took with your phone camera. That was the story of a 22-year-old Indonesian student who made millions of dollars from selfie photos that turned into NFTs. Sultan Gustaf Al Ghozali was the student's name, and the selfie was originally meant for his graduation ceremony before NFTs started trending.

With the help of other Indonesian celebrities, the student was able to make millions of dollars from the sale of his NFT images. During the peak of his collection of images, they were reportedly worth around $3 million. This is a high NFT crypto price for a starter.

Logan Paul was also involved when the NFT crypto price was still at its peak and paid about $2 million on 36 packs of first-edition Pokemon booster decks. That is quite a huge amount of money for a deck of cards.

It didn't end there, as he collaborated with Bondly Finance to create 44 unique NFTs that turned him into a digital Pokemon card. The other cards he bought for $2 million were auctioned, although additional benefits were given to those who won the Pokemon cards.

Conclusion

The NFT craze was huge, with many people scrambling to make a huge amount of money before the hype died down. At its peak, many weird NFTs sold for unbelievable nfts crypto prices, going into millions of dollars. Some of the nfts that sold for unbelievable sums are the NFT of the first tweet by the former Twitter CEO, an NFT of sleepy Donald Trump, and an NFT about the first WWW Source Code.
